My two boys and four of their friends went on a weekend camping trip in Indiana, at Starve Hollow Beach Camp grounds just outside of Brownstown, Indiana.
It was a getaway weekend that had been planned for some time. We had loaded up my van and my son’s four friends and their gear and we headed out to have some long awaited R&R.
Starve Hollow is a beautiful place to go, it is full of nature and a nice big manmade lake and beach out in the middle of nowhere. I had been taking my sons’ Austin and Dustin since they were babies. We had such a great time paddle boating, fishing, and sitting around the campfire telling stories.
On Saturday, Me and Jordan, one of the girls that went with us went out on the paddle boat together to fish and enjoy the peace. She was jamming with her headset and I was trying to catch a fish. I actually spent more time feeding them than catching them. That was ok, I just enjoyed the fun. I usually let them go anyway.
As we was sitting out in the middle of the lake and I recall how it is unusual for a butterfly to be out here in the middle of the lake. It was a small yellow butterfly with black markings on its wings. I didn’t give it much more thought and we enjoyed the afternoon.
Well, we rowed back in because dinner had to be made for it was going to be dark soon. We prepared our dinner everyone chipped in and helped with it. We ate than cleaned up and pulled up our lawn chairs around the camp fire and told stories.
Now it was just getting dusk out and as I was sitting in my chair that same butterfly flew right up to me the same one that had flew around me in the boat. That’s when it hit me “Oh my, that’s a sign.” The kids said “What?” I said again “That’s a sign, if a butterfly flies around you, it’s your love one telling you they are ok.” “Oh, I sure hope nothing is wrong with my mom.” That was my first thought when I saw the butterfly the second time. I went on telling of my mom that she had been sick on and off and how we were not as close as I wish we was, because I believe we was too much alike and we clashed a lot.
