And Celeste...her creative joy and her spiritual gift of hospitality have enriched my life for many years now...too many to count. She was the Sunday School teacher for a group of young mothers who became her friends for life...I was one of those young mothers. Celeste is a teacher in many ways. She taught school but the most important lessons she has taught me are keep your heart and mind open...God shows up when you least expect it in the most unlikely people...never stop creating...sew, cook, scrapbook, use the computer, travel, make new friends, treasure old ones...speak the truth in love...face life head on and don’t forget to laugh. But most of all, show up for life. I cannot list the number of times Celeste has shown up for me...wedding veils, brunches, sharing Glory Ridge, my first teacher in the field of mountain wild-flowers and raspberries...
All of these women are part of a story I'll tell my grandchildren. Their many gifts to me will be passed on to a generation "that knew them not"...they are a part of the generation book for Peggy Calhoun Cole Hester, daughter of Thomas and Shirley Calhoun, grand daughter of Irene and Stuart Minter and Mary and Vance Calhoun.
