Window to the Soul

By: Mark Roddey (View Profile)

I hide the pain with a bellowing laugh.
I’m carefree and jovial
In handling problems too great.
I fear nothing beyond
human control and expectation.
I face life head-on.
Laughter is...the window to the soul;
a painting of one’s character.
I crave the challenge, play the pressure.
I’ve journeyed through numerous valleys of darkness.
I’ve traveled lands plagued by famine, killing and war.
I do not hide from the dark side
of man’s mortal deed.
When it is time to leave, it will be,
for me, better to die
in battle and be free,
rather than fade away and plead.
Make the most of it with what you have...
and enjoy the wonder of life and laugh...
in the face of death and just be.
