Receiving a Desperately Needed Christmas Gift

By: Avis Ward (View Profile)

I was a Christian who was blind, holding a child who was not. I felt it was God asking, “Are you willing to share your son for a moment?”, when he shared his for all eternity. The ragged old man, unwittingly, had reminded me, “to enter the Kingdom of God, we must become as little children.”

I could point out the lessons found in this story but you are capable of doing that for yourself. Besides, you may discover lessons that relate to you that I omitted. I would like to encourage you, however, to pass this along if you have been touched by it.

Everyone isn’t a hugger. We demonstrate our heartfelt emotions in different ways. I am big on hugs but will ask before offending. I was amazed at the strength of Ivan, my two-year-old great-nephew, when I was home at Thanksgiving. That child gives the best hugs; the kind where the sounds are made as he squeezes you with all his might! Those kinds of hugs are memorable ones. Ivan seals his with an equally noisy kiss. May you receive many child-like embraces throughout the rest of your life but especially when you need one the most.
