Observations of a Native New Yorker, Part 2

By: Lisa Montanino (View Profile)

Alex concurs and explains how he went through the same thing at my age, having to deal with outsiders’ judgmental idle speculation. He explained how he gave up on dating and being disappointed with relationships that weren’t working for him. After moving to North Carolina for a real estate investment, he unexpectedly met “the one” in a bookstore two years later. He said he was amazed how this was the first time he was in a relationship that “just made sense” and was “effortless.”

I start to feel a tear well up in my eyes at this point. The thought of how Alex and I are just looking for the simplicity, not the complexity that usually occurs when you are with the wrong person. Alex found it and it’s made all the difference for him. I was genuinely happy for Alex and his achievement. I couldn’t help to think of hopefully having the same good fortune someday.
