Sisters Vacation to Vail

By: Christine 70 (View Profile)

I am taking a trip to Vail, Colorado this coming Thursday January 24th with my two wonderful sisters. We are staying at the Marriot in Vail. This is the first time ever traveling on vacation. We will be gone four days. Just a sisters’ weekend getaway.

Friday morning we are getting up and taking a carriage ride to a local resort and spending the day at the resort and having a real nice dinner that evening there. Saturday we are getting up and we rented three snowmobiles for four hours and going snowmobiling. We then are going driving back to Denver and having dinner with some in-laws of my older sisters and maybe do a little karaoke. Sunday we are doing breakfast and catching our plane home.

My whole point I guess is that my sisters and I have never spent time together before this. We have for the past ten years talked about a trip together but could never do it. Having kids, working, living so far apart we could never find the time much less the money.

It started out my sisters both conference called me last Thursday the 17th and said what are you doing next week (24th thru 27th). I of course told them uh duh I gotta work (end of the month closing). I am in accounting and payroll so end of the month is a dreaded time for me. They said ok go back and talk to your boss and tell him your packing your bags and taking a trip. I lost it. What did I do? Uh ya talked to my boss. He said GOOOO! Please understand that my oldest sister, forty years old, is legally blind and deaf, and my youngest sister, thirty-three years old, just had a beautiful baby girl seven months ago and is able to stay at home with her sons and daughter while raising and breeds Chesapeake Bay Retrievers. There are twelve at any given time. And I, thirty-seven years old have raised two wonderful daughters on my own, both teenagers now.

My sisters and I have always been close (except distance). We call each other every week. This is truly gonna be a magical weekend. Guess what the good part is? Airfare is free (frequent flyer miles from one of my brother in laws), (and lodging from my sister she has major discounts for the room). So we get to really just enjoy ourselves.
