Hallowed Halls

“How was it?” my brother asked my mom.

“It was okay, it’s you know, old,” my mother grasped, trying to play it down.

Later that day after no one had touched the melting strawberries, I asked my sister-in-law if I should pitch them. “Yeah, but keep the napkin, that’ll make a great burp cloth.”

Dallas will never be home for me again, but I felt right at home at the Adolphus and I’ve welcomed it into my extended family.

The Adolphus, 1321 Commerce Street, Dallas, Texas, 800.221.9083; rooms  from $192.00 for deluxe accommodations.
