“How was it?” my brother asked my mom.
“It was okay, it’s you know, old,” my mother grasped, trying to play it down.
Later that day after no one had touched the melting strawberries, I asked my sister-in-law if I should pitch them. “Yeah, but keep the napkin, that’ll make a great burp cloth.”
