Urban Style

As a Stylist, or rather an aspiring stylist in New York City I am always looking for new and exciting designers to use for various photo shoots. While searching online one day looking for interesting pieces of the underground urban variety I came across two designers who are doing great work. Fabulous interesting design is increasingly difficult to come across in a world obsessed with the status quo, whats hot now seems to look the same as what was hot yesterday and is so lacking in creativity it nice to see some folks who are still innovative.

The first of the designers that I came accross is a young lady who is called Supayana, you can view her clothes at Supayana.com. Her stuff has a sort of 60s mod feel two it with longer shirts and big structured collars, she uses pretty pastels and greys, some black and the detail is so cool. Great for all you ladies looking for somthing feminine but funky.

The Second designer that I saw was actually through Supayana's website, she has a link section and while going down the list I clicked on a girl names Rebecca Turbow. You can see some of her stuff at rebeccaturbow.com.

Again her stuff is very structured and she uses lighter yet still saturated colors along with whites and browns. Very urban Casual jackets with a lot of flare great detail and the use of geometric shapes that seem like they would work on a number of body types. My favorite piece is titled Look 630 the skirt is so cool it looks like a modern day mermaid and is flirty and fun. I wouldn't feel at all out of place sporting this outfit in New York in the springtime.

It looks like you can get Supayana's stuff on line through her store or on ebay. I checked the stuff on ebay and it's not a huge selection but definatly check the site.

As for Rebecca Turbow, there is a strore in New York that has some stuff which is great for me, the store is called Piece, but for all you San Franciscans it looks like checking her site is the best bet.
