Bright, Bold, Beautiful Dresses for Spring

By: Jacinta O’Halloran (View Profile)

Last week I was lamenting that I had no dressy occasions in my spring calendar; this week I’m lamenting that I have no spring dresses for all the occasions in my calendar. In the space of a week, I’ve received “save the dates” to four weddings, a bridal luncheon, and a graduation. Add in some spring traveling and I find myself with a great excuse to go frock-shopping … not that I ever really need an excuse!

I’m a dressaholic (applause please) and with all the gorgeous dress options in store this season, there’s just no excuse not to go dress shopping. I’m eager to shed my drab winter layers for the bright, bold, and beautiful dress trends of spring. I’m thinking vivid colors, graphic prints, and feminine frills, and luckily I have a Nordy’s gift card (thank you nana!) so I can hit their dress shop—and all the key trends—in one stop.

Bright
Shrinking violets look away—fashion is so bright this season, there’s no escaping the spotlight!

I love the not-so-mellow yellow of this gorgeous metallic silk dress by Nicole Miller. This is a definite possibility for one of my spring weddings. I can see it now, the rest of the guests dressed in Oscar red, or boring black … I couldn’t but shine in this brilliant hue!

This form-fitting azure blue knit dress by Diane Von Furstenberg is classy without being stuffy—perfect for my cousin’s graduation ceremony and dinner party. By combining a very clean classic shape with an of-the-moment hue (also available in flame red), this dress may inspire the graduating students to graduate from their Juicy sweats.

This raspberry stripe knit dress by Missoni is the gorgeous, bright wakeup call my spring wardrobe craves. The textured horizontal stripes across the fitted bodice and lengthening vertical stripes in the flowing skirt below will be so flattering on that I’ll have trouble taking it off—luckily it’ll never go out of style. Need to get those silver sandals too.

This gave me some great ideas for an upcoming wedding I'm going to. I love Robert Rodriguez, the fabrics and styles he designs are always unique. Thanks for the inspiration!
