The hunch pose is when models hunch their shoulders up and forward on the runway. It’s supposedly a very “couture” move (that’s what Christian on Project Runway said, anyway) but I’m seeing it everywhere—even on a Nordstrom’s banner, so it’s obviously worked its way off the runway. What happened to good posture? My mother was always nagging me to “stand up straight!” now it seems I’m out of fashion. What do you think? Is the hunch edgy or ugly?
whhoops didn't finish the thought there.....There is nothing feminie about that pose!!!
It looks more like she's fixing to give someone a stern lecture or beating! There is nothign

Hmm. Maybe it looks "couture" on a 6 ft., 112 lb model. But I'm 5'2 and somewhat...fluffy. My shoulders have always tended to round forward and if I forget and don't stand up straight, I look like an old woman ! ! To do it on purpose is just dumb.

Ugly!! I find it a bit demeaning also. My posture still needs work but I'll keep to the old school, it's health appropriate. And haven't we created enough "false images" for the youngins. now we want them to walk around, and look like, they have the weight of the world on their shoulders? (literally!)

I guess if you want to "look" sophisticated and snobby its a good look... i believe in good posture but to me thats over doing it a tad... I am not the **Typical Lady ** i guess more of a tom boy.. so maybe i am not the right person to ask ~ laughs ~

Good posture is never out of fashion.
I would have to agree with the esteemed comments above...
Elegance goes out the window the moment this pose is struck...
... of course this is just a gentlemen's viewpoint...

I grew up believing I'd be crippled or be permanently hunched over if I didn't straighten up my spine & stand tall. One thing about good posture is you look taller & slimmer. Your clothes hang better. I don't like the Hunch Pose. Skinny or not, there's no reason to slouch. I question trends sometimes. Which is another thing I remember hearing as a kid, "Well, if everyone ran to jump of a cliff, would you do it, too?" So, what everyone is doing or appears to be doing is not always a good idea. Stand tall, stand straight. Don't be OOgly. (Good term, Midori)

Yeah, you're right, I remember my grandma used to also tell me to stand up straight, why? she never said why, but I've always thought that it felt very uncomfortable for me, what more for those models etc.
I think edgy would be the word!!
