Blue Shadow Days Arrive

By: The Find (View Profile)

If last year’s runway was the platform for dark, black, Amy-Winehouse-esque eyeliner and makeup, this seasons’ runways are showcasing another color—dark blue eyeliner and shadow. If the first thing you think of when you hear “blue shadow” is still Mimi from The Drew Carey Show, remember that blue shadow, when done correctly, is nothing to be afraid of! Blue (more specifically, teal) was featured mostly as a thin, smudgy eyeliner, and this color can be flattering with many different skin tones and eye colors.

Your best bet is to invest in a good quality blue eye shadow, or gel eyeliner and apply either of these options with an eyeliner brush. This will allow for a more smudgy, less rigid, and static look.

And remember—while the effect is subtle, it takes confidence to pull off a new look! As with anything fashion-forward, make sure you’re comfortable with the new color before you do anything drastic!
