The Minimalist

SaffronRouge. That’s it. None of the ingredients are borrowed from NASA technology or brewed in a mysterious broth for hours on end. But my combination skin that has a tendency to break out and doesn’t need a load of moisturizer responds to it beautifully. I finally found what worked for me. I stuck to it. And now I’m reaping the rewards.

Here’s the straight story: Every month, you pick up a magazine and in the beauty section there’s an overly verbose writer like me flipping out about the latest and greatest cream. That’s her job. She needs to get excited about the latest technological advance to come along the pike because if she wasn’t, what would there be to write about, really? Who knows? Maybe that new miracle cream is exactly what your skin needs to look its best. But this is what I’ve learned: gentle—and I mean gentle—exfoliation, sunscreen, and a skin-type appropriate moisturizer (lighter and oil-free for acne prone, a little heavier for extremely dry) is all that most skin really needs. And once you find your little miracle, hold on tight and never let it go.

Of course, my lip balm collection is a different story.
