I can’t remember the last time I took a bath, but today is National Bubble Bath Day, and I plan to celebrate the “big day” in bubbly style! Other than dish detergent, I’m clean out of bubbles, so I’ll whip up my favorite recipe for soaking my stresses away: add three cups of Epsom salt and one cup of finely ground lavender buds to a bath of warm water. Are you a bath person? Share your favorite bubble bath or bath recipe!
For the most part, I shower for time and convenience, but I look forward to that relaxing soak in the tub once a week. I pumice stone my feet and shave my legs while I soak and just tune out the world. A lighted candle and the nice bath products I have add to the moment.

At this point in the gradual disintegration of my bathtub, I don't dare to sit down in it.

I'm a huge fan of Kneipp's bath oils. Also anything to spice up Epsom salts.... such as an herb tea infusion: take a cheesecloth to tie up a collection of Eucalyptus pods, rose petals or other fragrant flower petals (yes, I recycle petals from fragrant flower bouquets), cinnamon sticks, vanilla beans, pine needles, lemon or orange peels. Basically, think of your favorite scents and collect them in a bag to tie up and infuse your bath that way.

I used to lie to my mother after spending the weekend at my dad's, telling her that yes, I had taken a bath (I usually hadn't in the three days I was with him). Now I look forward to lighting all sorts of candles, sprinkling some Aveeno and pouring some bubbles, putting on some Beth Orton or the like and reading a juicy novel. It's the pre/post love scene in my own movie.
