Mother’s Day Picks: Scents and Scentsibilities

By: Violet Devereaux (Little_personView Profile)

Because fragrance is so personal, I tend to buy what I know my Mom already loves (helped by the fact her list of loves is almost as long as mine!) Still, if you want to take a chance, or stroll through the fragrance counters before Mother’s Day, here is a list of scents—some old, some new—that have sparked my interest recently.

  1. A La Nuit by Serge Lutyens. Expensive, dreamy jasmine.
  2. Black Orchid Voile de Fleur by Tom Ford. A huge favorite of mine, and a big hit with the man in my life, too!
  3. Bond No. 9 Sampler. If you’re really in trouble with Mom, this might just get you back in her good graces—if she doesn’t scold you for spending too much that is!
  4. Cannabis Rose by Fresh. Fresh’s newest. Rose with a few spicy thorns. Irresistible and very, very sexy.
  5. Chanel No. 5. Just because.
  6. Daisy by Marc Jacobs. Light and easy to wear, it grew on me, and the bottle is just too cute.
  7. Eau d’Hadrien by Annick Goutal. Citrus and cyprus, this fragrance has stood the test of time.
  8. Jo Malone Assortment. A nice introduction to her fragrance mixing philosophy.
  9. Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker. Excellent fragrance, wearable and pretty.
  10. Narcisco Rodriguez for Her. Seductive, musky floral.

This is also a good list just to keep and refer to. Sometimes, I'll be looking for a perfume that I've read about but have forgotten the name . I printed this out and it'll go in my book that lists "gifts." I just keep adding scents that I might like to buy or receive among other things.
