Dream Catcher

To catch a dream is to have fulfilled it for if one does not have a dream, living may seem without sense.

My dreams are to finish my Bachelor’s of Science degree with an Alternative Medicine major and continue to further my education.

The road to setting foot into college began with a thought, then some time, and a desire to change my life and do something that I love and make a living at it.

I could not finish high school because I had a baby at 15, then another one nineteen months later, therefore shattering my educational dreams. It was in those days were being pregnant at 15 was taboo and forget about going to school with a belly! I did not like school to begin with. I remember having an interest in health, science, social studies, and a fascination with the composition of words but my attention span was bad.

Time went by and I forgot school and concentrated on raising my children. They are the biggest treasure of my life, and I adore them so much. Raising them without their father was a sacrifice but I figured that if I was woman enough to make them, I figured I would be woman enough to raise them with or without their father.

Back then, I was poor and the father of my children was not around to help nor would he respond as a responsible father.

I went on with my life, raising my kids, going from job to job. I was happy with my family life and I was enjoying my motherhood. I did not date too much and if I did, the relationships did not last long. My friends would call me the 90 days date girl.

As I was seeing my kids grow up, I was looking forward to the first day of class. For kids to grow up and move on with their lives is a process not an event so I waited patiently until the right timing came along.

I called a University that I was interested in, asked if they can send me an information package. One week later the package came in, I opened it and it was so intimidating that I put it somewhere in the bedroom closet and forgot about it. I was reading the curriculum and when I saw college math I froze. I was never good at math. I only went up to basic algebra and the thought of taking a math class horrified me.

I first needed to get my GED before entering school.
