Colleges, according to an article in today’s New York Times, are hoping to attract students by serving haute cuisine in the dining halls. Bowdein’s students have a choice of white spinach lasagna, Dijon-crusted chicken, and green curry mussels.
This adds another variable to the absurdities of the college admission process, another recent development being fancy dorms. Along with course catalogs, college-bound students will now be studying menus to decide if they should apply early to Virginia Tech, where they can get grilled rib-eye. These new perks may make it difficult for parents to get their kids to come home for vacations.
