After a few months, I found myself studiously perusing the real estate section and monitoring “For Sale” signs. I got the name of a good mortgage broker and decided what I could reasonably spend. Bridezilla had left the building, replaced by an adult woman with a clear vision of what she wanted and deserved. Still, talking to my brother one day, I confided I was leery about getting back in the market. “It sounds corny, but it’s like love” he said. “One day you’ll see a place and you’ll just know.” Not me, I thought. I’m past all that silliness now. Then one afternoon I wandered into an Open House. There, amid the crown moulding and gleaming hardwood floors, I saw it: It was “The One.”
