Keeping Up with the Joneses

The latter is a reality that many of you have had to face. It may be you or someone that you know, a family member, a teacher, a friend, a colleague, or are representing as a real estate professional.

I continued to express myself to my friend, “Balance your life; keep your head above water and stop ‘Keeping up with the Joneses.” Everybody seems to be running at a million miles an hour. This is your reality so face it. Make sacrifices for now, at least for a year or two until you are able to get yourself on your feet again and situated. The market will readjust. Speculators and Real Estate Research Analysts are projecting a readjustment in the real estate market in the next 18 months. All markets have their difficulties. This is normal and until order and stability are restored, we will continually see the numbers of executed foreclosure homes growing in Florida as well as everywhere else.

She found some relief in my words and went on talking about other things.

What is going on?

There is panic everywhere. How do we calm people that are vehemently looking out on what is happening? Of course, it is not a bad idea that we should keep up to date and know what evolves on earth and the world around us, but as a professional Real Estate Agent, I must know and be adept to educate my buyers and sellers of the current situations in the real estate market.

Real estate is a remarkable subject especially in one of my favorite subjects, politics. But this does not mean that I am going to freak and give up because of what is going on. Alright, maybe I’ll get a part time job at the mall, who knows?

President Bush says to leave it the way it is; it is a market that normally goes up and down. Senator Hillary Clinton says let us give lender’s a break and give them millions to bail them out of this mess.

So far, I have heard of four different cycles in South Florida. Back in the year of ‘60 – ‘65, the market was low. Cubans were arriving in South Florida to flee Fidel Castro and South Florida began to experience a move in the real estate market. Cubans were working, purchasing homes. People were working, investing and acquiring real estate.
