Self Employment - Terrifying

By: Jennifer Smigla (Little_personView Profile)

I currently have a five year old son and am pregnant and due to deliver my second little son on December twenty-eighth.  I'm sure that child care everywhere is expensive, but I've found in considering my options of going back to employment after my baby is born that it may not make much sense.  My full time job working for a home builder has been stressful to say the very least lately and after pay cuts and such, may be more stress than I'm ready to take on after the baby comes.

I did get my real estate salesperson license last April and plan to put that to work for me to see if I can live off of an income that is not "guaranteed."  Has anyone else done this?  Committed solely from a full time (and full pay) job to staying home with the kids and running your own business?  Any advice?

I also have a five year old and am due to deliver our second child in february. I have my Real Estate license in California, and also realized the fruitlesness of my going back to work full time after this child is born. Our childcare would be more than our rent! However- with the market the way it is I am not making much money at all and we are basically surviving off of my husband's income. I guess it all comes down to how much you are willing to give up to stay home- my stress is much less, but the comforts are also much less.
