Santa’s Night Before Christmas

How important it is to be happy and free.

Free of his guilt and free of his blame,

Free of his worry and free of his shame.

The associates worked hard late into that night,

To help Santa see that everything would be alright.

They reminded him that by following his dreams,

He would model for people what Christmas really means.

Santa said, “It is the time spent together, presents or not,

That keeps people joyful, not focusing on what they got.”

The associates knew then that their job was done and as quickly as could be,

They ventured back to the sleigh, their hearts filled with glee.

The elves came running as they saw the associates packing up to leave,

For they knew that it meant in his heart Santa had found reprieve.

Good old Saint Nick was finally ready to get back onto his sleigh

And spread joy to all the people in his nostalgic way.

The elves watched him closely as they gathered all around

And one of them shouted “Christmas is saved because of who we found.”

Santa’s eyes—how they twinkled! His dimples how merry!

His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!

His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,

And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow.

The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,

And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath.

He had a broad face and a little round belly,

That shook, when he laughed like a bowlful of jelly.

He was chubby and plump, his right jolly old elf,

And the associates laughed when they saw him, in spite of themselves.

A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,

Told the associates they had nothing to dread.

He hugged his new friends; then turned with a jerk,

For Santa was back and went straight to his work.

And as they sprang on Santa’s sleigh, they gave the reindeer a whistle,

And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
