Sara

How fitting your name was ... Princess in Hebrew.

What could have been if you had lived?

May be we would’ve eventually married, though our destiny came first.

How naive I was to think you were safe,

Not being there to protect you haunts me everyday.

T’was trying times, each having a job to do ... both of us trying to make a difference,

But the price was too high.

As night falls, I bury my tears, quell my broken heart, and remember you.

Strawberry hair, long and flowing, freckled face and green eyes, and a glowing smile that melted me

A thousand different ways, from break of morn to the twilight fall.

Oh, Sara ... Three decades have passed and I still see you in my nightly dreams

And converse with you in my daily thoughts.

I’m still angered at God, I still want blame this cruel injustice on someone,

But those men have long since met their Maker.

Forgive me, my Darling, for such selfishness,

It’s just my hope you’re waiting for me in the light ... it shouldn’t be much longer.

I still catch myself asking God the reason, “Why?  Why Her?”

Sad - made me very sad, but well written to evoke the emotion.
