Saturday morning, in the ski shop at the Stein Eriksen. We’re picking up rentals for our two sons, never a fun task. They always squirm and squeal at all the layers and how nothing fits right. Anyways, a small man with a yellow and black ski jacket comes in wearing Uggs. Isn’t that cute? And, so modern. I’m thinking that man must be rather confident to wear Uggs, as they’re kind of feminine. Kudos to him! I can barely contain my glee as he faces me head on. He is NBC head Jeff Zucker. Yes, confident, indeed.
Saturday afternoon on the streets of Park City. So bummed. Many of the shops I like have cleared out and rented their space to promotional groups. One shop I like is gone and that Stri-Vectin “Better Than Botox?” cream is there. Why do they put the question mark after it? Either claim it or don't. Another art gallery I wanted to visit is filled by Project Greenhouse. Premiere magazine, My Space, and Motorola all have rented storefronts to try and bring in stars and other influential folk.
All of a sudden everyone is staring and a dozen people are holding up cell phones to take pictures. A white haired, Anthony Hopkins is walking rapidly down the street. He is in town to promote Slipstream, which he wrote, directed and stars in. He has a young woman on his arm and they are walking so fast that I fear they will slip and fall on the icy pavement. An onlooker, who is quite close to the couple, shouts back at the crowd “he doesn’t want his picture taken!” Well, then, why the hell is he here?
I'm going to chalk it up to being just another funny thing about this film festival.
