What are the new trends in electronica and house music? Music you are unlikely to hear anywhere else, that’s what. This is music that makes you feel a sudden affinity for a life of good vibrations. It might be Trip Hop or Ambient, Chill or Dub, Jazz set to Downtempo. Cocktail culture. Sophisticate Manhattanittes in black. Hip, jazz-infused music that makes your hips sway involuntarily. Before the cocktail. However, this groove is not only for the cocktail crowd, nor is it limited to partiers looking to relax after a night in Babylonia. This is appropriate for tea time, love making time, house cleaning time, rocking your child to sleep time, running, yoga, anytime. The songs of this breed can be subtle and less intense but more rhythmic and melodic than pop music. It’s music for the mind, the heart, as well as the hips.
Welcome to the newest breed of music. The creation of an atmosphere is a powerful thing. The atmospheric blend of electronica and lounge music is exhilarating. Lounge has a more retro-esque sound that is heavily influenced by jazz music. Some kinds are bluesy, some more trancey. It all depends but there is something for all tastes whether haute cocktail couture or good grooves for your daily run. This music does not simply resonate, it emanates from your being long after the CD is over. You just can not help but be moved by it, not only in body, but in spirit.
My husband is a chef, thus we have eaten out at some amazing places where the one thing that enhances the experience more than anything else is the music. One of the newest coming out of this versatile, ethereal, and virtual education in the school of sensuous chillogy is Thievery Corporation. The mixing of women’s lilting voices makes one weak in the knees. They mix sensual bass beats with beautiful piano touches, and gorgeous sitar-y type instrumentation. Every so often a little taste of drum and bass or jungle is tossed into the fire for a delicious alchemy. The newer mixes coming out now are even more creative as they infuse the beats with world and global rhythms accentuating the already soulful and almost meditative sounds. I especially love the emotionally charged breathy vocals, some sung in French. Ooh la la. This music, this nouveau electro soul fusion, this infusion of sonic surrealism makes one want to dream, paint, or just relax.

Here in San Francisco you can find tons of lounges and restaurants playing house music with live dj's. Listening to some house music while eating and visiting with friends is one of my favorite things to go in the city. Thanks for the recommendations!
Very cool. I think I'll check out some of these bands you speak of. Thanks for sharing.
