New Trends in House Music

By: Sarah Elise Stauffer (View Profile)

If you are new to the electronica chill movement, try Moby’s “Play” or Thievery Corporation’s “The Cosmic Game.” Talvin Singh’s “Buddha Lounge” is known for fusion of Indian tabla music and electronica. A great introduction to the plethora of goodies available to you is “World Lounge” by Putumayo Music. Putumayo Presents World Lounge has gems like “Foto Viva” by Mo’ Horizons. Seriously, I was aghast at this song. At the heart of the nouveau electro soul fusion is juxtaposition of jazz or blues with technology that evokes true emotion. This is more than a trend, it is a state of mind, a way to be inspired, a way to invite well-being, healing, relaxation, dancing, celebration, and meditation.

Here in San Francisco you can find tons of lounges and restaurants playing house music with live dj's. Listening to some house music while eating and visiting with friends is one of my favorite things to go in the city. Thanks for the recommendations!
