He Promised Me – A Christmas Poem

By: Bill Browne (View Profile)

This Poem accompanied the saddest photo of my long haired chihuahua named “Duke” in a santa hat. I wish you could have seen the pitiful look he had.

He promised me, he promised me,
He would never dress me up,
In some dumb assed stupid costume.
He said since I was a pup.

He promised me, he promised me,
Even if Halloween came around.
He would not drape me in taffeta
or suit me up like a clown.

He promised me, he promised me,
I would never have to be a bunny.
Even if it was Easter and
everyone thought it was funny.

He promised me, he promised me,
I would never wear a poncho,
Although he loves “Cinco de Mayo”
and tequila is his honcho.

Excellent rhyming flow, with a gut busting ending. Very funny!
