Homemade Easter Bonnets

By: Amanda Coggin (View Profile)

My family loved Easter because it gave us an excuse to wear floppy hats.

You can pick up cheap straw hats and art materials at art supply or thrift stores. Making bonnets is a great party activity for kids (and adults!); they can take home their new hats with their eggs

Materials

  1. Straw hats
  2. Ribbon, bows, artificial or real flowers, and any other decorations you fancy
  3. Glue and a glue gun (or guns, if there are a lot of people working)
  4. Elastic thread

Directions
Use the glue gun to attach various items around the brim of the hat; make sure there is a parent on duty to help with the glue gun. Attach ribbons to the sides of each hat to make the tie; you can also use ribbon around the base of each hat as piping.
