October 6, 2006. The piazza in front of San Marco is so full of tourists that it’s kind of difficult to sit and sketch. I limited myself to a quick impression of the detail above the main entrance portal (above the heads of the crowd). This complex of buildings with its glittering mosaics and Byzantine forms has to be the most exotic church in Italy.
