Did you know March is designated as Women’s History Month?
In fact, there is a non-profit organization called National Women’s History Project (NWHP) that was formed to honor women and their contributions to our history.
In 1987 the NWHP petitioned congress to expand the national celebration to the entire month of March to “ensure the history of American women will be recognized and celebrated in schools, workplaces, and communities throughout the country.”
I have reflected on the many women in history as well as those in my circle of strength who have influenced my life. I am grateful and blessed to be among the company of amazing women. So let’s take a moment to honor women in history this month and remember those who have gone before us to blaze trails of opportunity for us today.
One woman who was most inspiring to me was Eleanor Roosevelt. One of my favorite quotes by her is, “A woman is like a tea bag, you never know how strong she is until she gets into hot water.”
