Who’s Been Your Greatest Inspiration Throughout Your Life and Why?

By: Caitlin Goebel (View Profile)

Every night I come home and turn on the evening news. At times it seems the world is in devastation and destruction. But today, and in the past, there have been individuals that have inspired and motivated me about what tomorrow will bring.

The greatest inspiration in my life was one of the actions Eleanor Roosevelt took as the First Lady. When she heard that the Daughters of the American Revolution were not letting Marian Anderson, an African American, sing at Constitution Hall, the First Lady removed any affiliation with the organization and then arranged for Ms. Anderson to sing at Lincoln Memorial. She could have ignored what was happening but she chose to take a very public stand on the issue.

We all can be inspired when hearing the stories of people who have done something out of the ordinary in this world. Is there someone who has inspired you and why?  Join the chit chat.

My greatest inspiration(s) have been all the people who maintain integrity in the face of
stupidity and wind up helping the world in some small or big way.

My high school librarian was my inspiration during a hard time through high school. I seemed to be a misfit and she pulled me together and my made me realize my self worth. She was a totally amazing woman and I shall always be grateful to her!

My mom has always been my greatest inspiration. She's such a wonderful woman. She's kind, loving, always willing to help others. I ended up going/graduating from college because of her. She wanted the best for me and that included getting a good education. She makes me want to be a better person.

My moms been my biggest influence because she has been through so much and has still found it in her to remain humble and be positive and have a good sense of humor through tough times.

My Grandma was my biggest inspiration: She raised 10 children during the Depression with very little money or help. They all turned out to be wonderful parents and grandparents themselves.

My mother has always been my biggest inspiration, she not only survived a horrible accident at work that paralyzed her and her doctors told her she would never walk again, she was back on her feet and walking within a year and a half, albeit with herniated disks in her back and tremendous pain but she didn't let the doctors stop her. She survived two battles with cancer an abusive marriage, and in between managed to save my life by performing the heimlich maneuver on me when I almost choked to death! She is one of the few people I know who not only represents true grace under fire, she lives and breathes it and she attributes a great sense of humor as a way to overcome lifes obstacles. I think it's a great sense of strength, but nonetheless whichever one it is, she has inspired me to keep pushing and be persistent in every area of life.

My mother was my inspiration througout my teen years, she came to this country not knowing the language , without a job and 3 kids to raise and a tough marriage through it all.
I miss her daily.

I know this sounds so cliche but my greatest inspiration is my husband. He made me want to be a better wife, mother and better at my job. He is my best friend and we have been together for 23 years.
