Who’s Been Your Greatest Inspiration Throughout Your Life and Why?

By: Caitlin Goebel (View Profile)

Every night I come home and turn on the evening news. At times it seems the world is in devastation and destruction. But today, and in the past, there have been individuals that have inspired and motivated me about what tomorrow will bring.

The greatest inspiration in my life was one of the actions Eleanor Roosevelt took as the First Lady. When she heard that the Daughters of the American Revolution were not letting Marian Anderson, an African American, sing at Constitution Hall, the First Lady removed any affiliation with the organization and then arranged for Ms. Anderson to sing at Lincoln Memorial. She could have ignored what was happening but she chose to take a very public stand on the issue.

We all can be inspired when hearing the stories of people who have done something out of the ordinary in this world. Is there someone who has inspired you and why?  Join the chit chat.

The giveaway ended May 23rd, but you can still add your story to this chit chat. Look for more giveaways and stand by for an announcement about our winner.

My dad, his one line, he used just once when I was a kid, I use on a daily basis, it's life I guess, but it was, "when the tough get going, the going get tough"... I think he originally used it with me for football practices in High School, but boy I use it every day, family, work, etc..

My greatest inspiration is my best friend Missy. She's the bravest, strongest, nicest, most loveable person I know. She's been there through all my bad times and to celebrate the good ones. She is the only person who never gave up on me, who knew under the depression, her best friend was still there. She inspired me to get help and get my life put back together. And she always has encouraging words and a hug readily available. She has faced her own obstacles and never let them get in the way of her dreams. She had her son at the age of 14 and to this day is still the best mother I know. While other kids in our school were dropping out, she showed up everyday with a smile on her face. She graduated at the top of our class and went on to finish college. Whatever situations arise that make me feel down or that I can't get through them, I think of her and how she never gave up. She kept working for her dreams and gave herself and her son a great life.
Torrie Gissendanner, The person who is my greatest inspiration in my life is my mom, we talk everyday, and she always has an encourageing word, even days when I don't have the will to want to get up in the morning and live she gives me inspiration, and I love her very much.
