And then this young woman stood up with a baby in her arms and said, “My name is Mary. I’ve had five pregnancies and each time I was delivered with a traditional birth attendant and each time I had dramatic postpartum hemorrhage. It was so terrible I couldn’t work for months… I was too weak and one of my babies died. At the market one day, my husband heard about this clinic… He said let’s have the baby there… it was amazing. I got a shower. There were lights. Somebody helped me and stayed with me through the night. I’m now telling everybody I know because I didn’t have any hemorrhaging…”
