Violence Prevention
Domestic Violence Services
This bill requires a $400 minimum mandatory fine on individuals granted probation after being convicted of a domestic violence crime. These fines will help underwrite expanded state and county domestic violence services and programs and will eliminate the fees that had been charged to domestic violence victims for issuing retraining orders.
As a statewide public foundation dedicated to using women’s philanthropy to change the social and economic landscape for women and girls, we recognize that policy change at the state level is one of our most effective strategies. This strategy is particularly powerful when it is maximized by a broad coalition of citizens who take just few minutes to correspond with lawmakers. Experience shows us that lawmakers do indeed listen. The Foundation continues to spearhead efforts to help advocate for new laws and state regulations that support the health and well being of women, girls and their families. You, too, can join this movement! Visit our website in the coming weeks to find out about policy advocacy opportunities in the current legislative session.
