My Home ...

I am a lifer. I am a Hoosier. I was born and raised in the great state of Indiana.

I have always lived here and really don’t see me going anywhere else. I complain every year about the weather. I really hate the snow but love the trees when they change in the fall. I love driving down the highways and byways of Indiana and watch the amazing corn fields waving and the trees flowing as you drive past, almost as if to say,”Thanks for spending some time with me.” I love the warmth of the sunshine and really love the frozen tree branches in the dead of winter. The glistening as you drive makes you warm inside.

I know I feel like I am in a storybook fantasy. I have now seen two snowbows this past winter. I would think they must be a sign but have not figured it out. They are just as beautiful as a rainbow. I love to see the wildflowers and the birds singing. The deer in the parks and the fishing is all a great part of nature and all that makes us who we are. We are Hoosiers and proud of the land. I can’t see me anywhere else. Why? Well, I guess because my family is here and this is home.

I love Lake Michigan and used to sail on my dad’s beautiful sailboat. I learned to swim in Lake Michigan. I remember being at Silver Beach on our cabin-cruiser my dad rebuilt. He jumped in the water and then I got in. We were going to walk on the pier together. I remember him telling me that I had to learn to swim if I wanted to walk on the pier. I did the doggie-paddle to shore, we went and walked the pier, and then I looked at my dad and asked how I was getting back. He told me I had to swim back. Again, I doggie-paddled back. I remember watching fireworks on the beach and from the sailboat during the fourth of July and Venetian festival. I remember taking the boys to the beach and swimming, taking my niece and nephew to the beach and watching the kids all play in the water. Last summer, the kids took turns burying each other in the sand. Very funny.
