Three Ways I Found Community

By: Amanda Coggin (View Profile)

What do you value within yourself? And whatever that is, can it be taught to or shared with others? I discovered that through my two favorite creative outlets, writing and photography, I could share what I knew with children. I took a workshop on how to teach writing and photography to children and found that when I gave up what I knew, it took on a life of its own. Your local community center, neighborhood schools, or the Boys and Girls Clubs are just some examples as to where you can share your talents.

But you can’t wait to create community, you have to be willing to go out and find it. Whether it is a community garden, a social group, or a gaggle of giggling women trying to make the most of their lives, you will find that your life becomes richer when you enroll yourself in creating a community.
