TIME magazine reported that sites like Facebook are bypassing porn for the number one seat of sites visited for the eighteen to twenty-four year old set. So is Facebook the new porn? For me, checking my Facebook profile page is reminiscent to whether my girlfriend slipped that note I anticipated into my high school locker. What do social networking sites meant to you? And if you do use them, how much time spent is too much time wasted?

Nope. Not addicted. I think it's great to check in and see what others are up to. Kind of a virtual billboard for your network of friends, BUT I will never be the person who updates their moods. I'm sure one of our children will invent the digital mood ring that will send an IM to our profile pages soon enough. Then I might also know what my mood is ;)

Facebook is another way to keep in touch with those I might not be able to normally. When I have time I definitely look at it, though I imagine less so than eighteen to 24-year-olds. It's just another way to connect in our overly hectic, disjointed world. I consider it another version of the town green for future generations. For me spending time connecting with other people is never time wasted, though I find myself prefering the phone or seeing people in person.
