New Year’s Eve – A Pile of Crap

By: Wise Dragonfly (View Profile)

So I guess I could focus on my spirituality. Well, I’ve gone to an anonymous twelve step program for twenty years so you’d think I would finally “find it!”  But they keep telling me to “Come back!” So I guess I am not healed yet. I do meditate and read spiritual material every day, and it has helped. But my favorite saying is “In getting where I want to go, I’m a frequent late arriver. Though God is at the steering wheel, I’m a constant back seat driver!”

The best thing I have found, that has helped me the most is A Course in Miracles. I’ve only been reading it for two decades now. I know it has changed me, but I find that as 2007 ends, I need to start over at the beginning of Lesson 1 again???? What’s up with that? I feel like a trained puppy that has relapsed. When will I ever “get it?”

So, for those of you who are in my same “space” for New Year’s, God help you. Oh, check out my new blog: Carol’s Wise Tales. I am starting to publish my book on this site. What the heck, let it all hang out. After you read all 500 pages of the book, you’ll know why I need to change. It’s about the memoirs of my life “trying to find sanity in an insane world!” Interestingly enough, it is also filled with humor, as that is the thing I use most to cover up my true feelings. I know humor is good, but not at the cost of my sanity.

So, do I have any advice to give to you who are sitting alone with me tonight? No, not really. The only thing that keeps me going is knowing that I am a work in progress. “One day at a time,” for me, that’s all I can do. And remembering that my goal is “Progress, not Perfection!”

Happy New Year,

Again, Not so wise dragonfly!
