Poetry of Life

By: Grey Sparrow (Little_personView Profile)

As a man of words I’ve almost never been without something relevant to say during crucial moments of my life. However, there have been times when I’ve forced my feelings to shut down for the sake of self-preservation.

Though life has an uncanny way of reminding us of how infallible we can be, there has never been a lack of inspiration that I’ve not found when I’ve looked into the eyes of a woman, or a child in need. By all means a gifted soul is a naked soul. A more eternal part of oneself exposed to all of life’s circumstances—be it good or bad.

Though trials of life and pressures of this world can sometimes push some of us to a point of inflicting harm on ourselves, there has always been that surprisingly resilient glimmer of hope that you find in the least of places shifting your perspective.

For me it was the weekend just before this last Christmas. How was I to know after all my silent complaining of facing crowds of people out shopping, my seventy-seven year-old mother would later come to give me an unexpectedly long, lovingly affectionate embrace for having patience to assist her on her quest for gifts.

As a man with the patience of a two year old when it comes to shopping with a woman, I must say I done quite well on this occasion. Although I’m not quite always the gentleman I was brought up to be, considering the nature of the season I can say I successfully fulfilled my role as a good son.

Considering my life is without the added “happiness” of children of my own, the joy of looking into her eyes while hearing her comments as she imagined the excitement her gifts would bring to her grandchildren on Christmas Day, was enough motivation in itself to keep me sustained throughout the remainder of the experience.

After spending the rest of my vacation reflecting on how wonderful it is to actually like the people I love, I must say I look forward to one day of having a family of my own.
