When I sat on the beach with you,
I had no worries.
You were there to keep me from drowning,
from being lonely.
When I stood up to go home,
you walked the other way.
You didn’t see the hurt in my eyes,
nor the tear roll down my cheek.
When I walked down the shore,
I felt a strong breeze.
You were not there to protect me,
or comfort me.
When I started to run,
the wind circled around me.
You did not see me suffocating,
nor did you care.
The wind had me surrounded.
I had no escape.
The wind sucked the happiness out of me.
I begged it to stop.
The wind killed me.
I was nothing without you.
