Alky’s Apple Cider

By: Benji McSimmons (View Profile)

It’s that time of the year again. Cold outside. Warm inside. Family. Holidays. Drunken, red-faced, belligerent rants at the dinner table.

I like to get to my boiling point quicker with this hot holiday beverage:

2 quarts apple cider
1/2 cup orange juice
1 cup high proof Bourbon
2 tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoon whole cloves
Four cinnamon sticks
1 teaspoon nutmeg

Mix all ingredients in pot except bourbon and bring to a boil. Simmer for about fifteen minutes. Add bourbon and stir. Immediately strain and serve. May be garnished with fresh orange or lemon slice, or a cinnamon stick in each mug. And as always, feel free to add bourbon individually as desired.

Note: Great for kids (minus the alky ... ?).
