White Hot Chocolate

By: Sharon K (View Profile)

With this winter weather never seeming to end (it is snowing here again today!), this is a nice recipe to make for an evening of staying in with the jammies on and watching a good movie with a fire going. This is a great recipe to double—I usually keep it warm in a crock pot. I have also made this recipe to take to winter parties and it is the first thing gone.

White Hot Chocolate

3 cups half and half cream, divided

2/3 cup vanilla baking chips

One cinnamon stick (3 inches)

1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon almond extract

Ground cinnamon, optional

Procedure:

In a saucepan, combine 1/4 cup cream, vanilla chips, cinnamon stick, and nutmeg. Stir over low heat until chips are melted, discard cinnamon. Add remaining cream; stir until heated through. Remove from heat; add extracts. Sprinkle each serving with cinnamon if desired. Makes 4 servings.
