Spicy Sausage Poppers

By: Mark Roddey (View Profile)

This item will fire up your holiday party. A quick, simple recipe with very little prep time. The perfect appetizer that feeds a bunch of guests.

Spicy Sausage Poppers

4 pounds ground spicy hot pork sausage (Owens hot brand … it’s very lean!)

2 pounds grated cheddar cheese

6 cups Bisquick baking mix

2 teaspoons cayenne pepper

2 teaspoons Creole seasoning

One large mixing bowl

Several large metal baking sheet pans

1 can Pam baking spray

Procedure:

Knead together, in large mixing bowl, pork sausage and Bisquick baking mix till blended smooth. Now add in cheddar cheese, cayenne pepper, and Creole seasoning, mixing thoroughly. Grease sheet pans with Pam baking spray. Form sausage mixture into one inch balls and place on greased sheet pans (leave a little space between your balls, they’ll stick together if you don’t). Bake in pre-heated oven at 350° F for twenty-five to thirty minutes (till firm to the touch … test one to see if it’s done inside). Serve at room temperature on your favorite holiday tray. These babies are good served cold … just grab’em and pop’em.
