When making biscuits memories of the chilly mornings at Granny’s sweep through my mind so vividly thick. I can almost feel the cold on the bottoms of my bare feet after getting out from under the warmth and comfort of a mound of quilts. It was the smell of hot buttered biscuits, homemade jelly, and soothing coffee (as special treat at Granny’s) that woke me from a comfortable, peaceful slumber.
Granny is no longer with us but many of her recipes and traditions will forever be a part of our family. Today you, my online friends, are invited to join me in making Granny’s Southern Biscuits. Grab a cup of coffee and meet me by the stove.
Granny’s Southern Biscuits
Preheat oven to 400 degrees
Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup milk (add more as desired for consistency)
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
Directions:
Add milk and mayonnaise to flour in large mixing bowl. Mix until all flour is moistened. Additional milk can be added as needed to achieve desired consistency. For rolling or cutting biscuits use less milk, for dropping by the spoon or making in muffin tins use more milk. Bake at 400 degrees until tops are golden brown. (For a more golden and delicious effect, brush butter or bacon grease lightly across the tops of biscuits before baking.)
Refill your coffee and Enjoy!
