One Bag Bought = One Child Fed

By: Jacinta O’Halloran (View Profile)

You’ve probably heard this before, but it needs hearing again: one child dies from hunger every five seconds. It’s overwhelming isn’t it? I sometimes feel it’s too big to fix, that I can’t even make a dent in this problem.

I recently found a small way I can make a big difference. By purchasing the very cool Feed Bag—a reversible carryall, designed by Lauren Bush, Honorary Spokesperson for the World Food Program—you can feed one hungry child at school for a whole year. The bag costs $59.99 and more than half the proceeds ($34) go to the U.N. World Food Program. I just ordered one for myself, one for my mother, and one for my high school graduate cousin. I just fed three children. I think I’ll make it my all-occasion gift. I can do good while I make people look good. Please help me make a dent.

My bag arrived yesterday and I am so happy with it. This really is a GOOD bag: It's made from a natural material (burlap) and an undyed cotton inside; It feeds a child for one year, and it's cool too. I was tempted to hang it on the wall to admire it but couldn't resist hanging it on my arm instead. I used it to go Food Shopping yesterday to spare plastic bags, today it will carry all our sports supplies to a baseball game, and tomorrow it will take us to the beach---it's truly a stylish multifunctional Summer bag. Mine took weeks to ship because I bought it when it first came out. I just checked Amazon and they are in stock now, ready to ship. I'm buying one as a gift for a friend who just had a baby. Instead of buying them a cute baby outfit, or stuffed toy, I'm giving them a bag they can use to tote babystuff (I personally think it'd be a cool diaper bag), and feeding a child in their little baby's honor.

I bought one! I bought one! And I needed another bag like I don't need a hole in my head. But anything for the children.
