Barack Obama is fine-tuning his message. He is trying to show voters that he is not out of touch with working-class voters after his stumble in Pennsylvania. Blue-collar voters in particular have been voting for Hillary Clinton more than Barack Obama. Do you trust that he cares about working people? Or do you think his comments about blue-collar voters were exaggerated by the media?

Polititians and the media work primarily on scare tactics. That sells more than sex!! To me it seems that most Americans respond to anyone who is promising to protect you from the big bad wolf...whatever it is at the time...Bin Laden, Autism, Reverend Wright... If they can make you afraid of it and somehow show you that your plight in life is the direct result of it, you will back whomever is promising to rid the world of it, right? Obama is an easy target. He doesn't look like what "America" is used to. He doesn't have the background that America is used to. He unites all people...and America is not used to that either. Hmmmm. Be afraid. Be very afraid. The way he has been treated has been spectacularly unfair. All who bought into the BS should be ashamed.

I do trust that Obama cares about working(class) people. I also understand how campaign politics negate the possibility of electing a candidate who is completely honest and forthright. Blue-collar voters have been conditioned to believe that their interests are tied to issues involving a candidate’s personality. The economic interests of the country have been presented as a zero-sum game dividing voting classes. The corporate media outlets have become the beneficiaries in the campaign process. They command a disproportion influence over the electorate and their biases and distortions have never been more apparent than in the current elections. Ultimately the elected officials are simply a manifestation of the nation’s collective mentality. For better or worse, we elect into office the people we deserve.

It's a double edge sword for any candidate. Not only must they please and ease the fears of the working class, but must also make promises to the corporate powers that be in order to get elected, which in most cases, is detrimental to the well being of the working class in the long run. You have to dance with the devil to live in the White House. The common citizen's vote doesn't count ... the money men control the electoral college votes.

I believe that he cares about working people and that all political comments tend to be exaggerated by the media. I also think that working-class voters have good reason to be skeptical about how much he really understand their issues.
