Wine with Chocolate?!

By: Women & Wine ® (View Profile)

CNN reported the latest medical research says we get the most antioxidant benefit from eating bittersweet chocolate in moderation. Researchers discovered it actually had health benefits for your blood vessels if eaten in small amounts on a regular basis. That’s one prescription I'll be happy to take! If you cannot afford expensive bittersweet chocolate, buy bittersweet baking chocolate from the grocery store. And while you are there, check out the wine department—looking at the labels of the best wines gives you many clues as to why they are great.

To spice up a romantic evening, try this Chipotle Chocolate Fondue.

I stopped drinking for about 4 years. Before that, I could never drink red wine, it gave me a headache. I was a oakey, buttery Chardonnay only kindof gal. Then I went to a vineyard in the Russian River Valley where they handed me a chocolate wafer to try with their Old Vine Zin. The rest is history. Red wine and chocolate is my new pairing for my thirties. I heard that there is a restaurant in Vegas now that only serves red wine and chocolate...is this true? If so, I may just have to go back to Vegas again in my lifetime.
