At fifteen, I thought I was the height of sophistication going to the local disco drowned in my mother’s Dune by Christian Dior. I remember my friends reeking of Anais Anais, Musk from the Body Shop, or Poison. I can’t imagine any of us would be caught dead in these fragrances today. Still, your first fragrance stays with you, in the same way your first kiss or first love does. What did you adore as a teenager? Do you still like it now?

My first fragrance was Windsong by Matachabelli (spelling may be wrong). This was popular back in the late 1950's when I was in high school. It still has specia memories for me and each time I see it on a fragrance counter which is seldom, I spray a little on me for old times sake.l

Halston - in the 80s!
My first was Cool Water for women. I actually still have half the bottle left-I should probably throw that out!
Like Sophie, I also had Vanilla Fields...it was popular with all my friends!

I don't remember the company .. but I loved Hawaiian White Ginger as a girl. Any time someone went to Hawaii I would beg them to bring some home to me. I never have found a fragrance I liked as much.

I received Chanel No 5 every xmas for several years as a child from my father. I take a whiff every time I pass the fragrance counter in a dept store. Can't say that I really like it, yet it is ' homey.'

I think it was called Vanilla Fields??? Was it? Anyone remember? It was pretty popular when I was a young girl.

I think it was Timeless-by Avon and Charlie (back in the 70s)
I can't remember if the first one was Lady's Stetson or one of the Impulse brand body sprays. I do remember that everyone seemed to be wearing a type of Impulse as well as quoting the ads "If a man suddenly gives you flowers that's Impulse".

My first fragrance was called Heaven Scent. My mom gave it to me when i was in junior high i think. i remember liking the soft smell of it. i don't know if i would wear it today but i think i would like a whiff. then i moved on to white musk from the body shop. my mom recently bought me a bottle for nastalgia, i tried to wear it a couple times, and while i do like a whiff, i can't wear it all day.
I had a few first fragrances. Fruit flavored perfume was the rage when I was a teen. I smelled of strawberry & melon for a part of that time. When Love's Baby Soft had cool commercials with a teenaged girl getting the attention of a young teen hunk, every teenaged girl I knew ran out to get that. I went through my musk period. I would sing the song from the Windsong commercial & got several bottles of that one year for Christmas. I finally settled on Jontue & wore that for years. Today, I pretty much use nothing or a light fresh body splash. I don't need to overpower a room with scent anymore. Less is better!

Bluegrass by Elizabeth Arden. My mom gave it to me when I turned 15, just as her Mother had given it to her. Not a great fragrance, but I have fond memories of it.

I don't honestly remember what my first "real" fragrance was. I do remember having some little-girl ones, though. I ran across them years later and was mortified that I ever actually went out in public smelling like that!

My first scent was Love's Baby Soft, a gift from my mom. When I was old enough to purchase my own, I was right there with Mom-a-rama buying Liz Claiborne in the triangle. hehe.

I remember wearing LuLu (in a bright blue and red bottle?), Anais Anais, and Liz Claiborne in the triangle bottle. This topic is so telling in the "age one came of age" department.

I'd sneak and wear my mother's Georgio from Bloomingdales. I'd leave the house with a cloud trailing behind me--I don't think I could stand the smell today. Do they even still make it?

I think my first scent really was Musk something from Body Shop! Tommy Girl was my first glass-bottled scent. All the boys back in middle school used to wear Cool Water. That scent still turns me on ... just a little bit.

I actually love Old Spice and I can totally see how it would stand the test of time. When I was a teenager all the boys, including both of my brothers, wore (way too much) Lynx--a deodorant body spray that was known as "Axe" outside the UK. Not sure my lungs will ever recover from the fumes at the Saturday night disco!

This may be just a chit chat for women, but this old man has a first fragrance, a fragrance which I still use after forty plus years, that which is the original "Old Spice" after shave.

I loved Paris and Opium, and I don't think I'd touch Opium with a hundred-foot pole now. I think I also wore Chanel #5, but that was probably because my grandmother and my aunt wore them too. Clearly i needed guidance from people under the age of 70!
