What Are Your Oscar Picks?

I prefer to judge performances rather than styles when Oscar time rolls around. As I walked out of Michael Clayton, I marveled at how effortlessly George Clooney had brought its script to life. Friends raved about No Country for Old Men. I’m into Ellen Page being nominated at the ripe old age of twenty-one, and thrilled that she’s up against quality talent like Cate Blanchett, who portrayed Bob Dylan brilliantly in I’m Not There. What are your Oscar picks this year?

I was amazed at There Will Be Blood (and I was turned OFF by the title) and think it should win the whole kit-and-caboodle-- at least best picture, actor and cinematography. I loved Atonement (and didn't expect to, since I loved the book and I'm that kind of movie snob) and cried SO MUCH, so that's got to be worth something. I thought Juno was terrific and think that Ellen Page did a great job, but I didn't see any of her competition. George Clooney is hot as ever, but I didn't like Michael Clayton and thought his suits made him look like an undertaker... I'm so glad the strike is over so we get a good show!
