Scooter Libby: Is Justice Equal?

By: Kate Carter (View Profile)

Yesterday, George W. Bush saved Scooter Libby from having to serve his two and a half year prison term. Libby had been convicted of perjury and obstruction of justice in the CIA leak case, and Bush decided a prison sentence was too harsh.

Scooter Libby is a lackey for Cheney; a scapegoat for Cheney; a freed man because of Cheney.

It is amazing how many people that are in prison that are innocent that don't have money to fight for themselves and no one cares. The real offenders skate..........Like I say in God I trust all others pay cash........

I think that this is an injustice

When Paris Hilton spends more time in jail for doing far less damage, and when Bush as governor of Texas had the opportunity--but didn't--commute execution sentences for mentally retarded and insane inmates... what does that say about justice???
This is unequal justice at the highest levels of government. V-Pres Cheney probably convinced Bush that Libby should be shielded from prison. This is typical of a vice president who claims "executive privilege" at every turn. At the end of the day, who has been held accountable here for compromising US security?? Anyone at all?? I hope Democractic-hopefuls remind swing voters of the Republicans' abuse of power in 2008.

This administration has once again acted as if it above the law. Libby was convicted; he should do his time, he should pay his penalty. Being a compatriot to those in power should not get someone a get out of jail for free card. It undermines our entire system of due process.
