Wine Country Readers read The Memory Keeper’s Daughter by Kim Edwards

Our book club read a novel that proved to be quite controversial, as 30 percent loved it, the rest of us found fault with one thing or another. The Memory Keeper’s Daughter was a New York Times Bestseller for twenty-eight weeks. It’s the story about a doctor and his wife having twins, one of which is born with Down Syndrome, and their life journey once the child is given away. Have you read it? Tell us what you thought!

I found this an interesting read. I too was curious as to the outcome of events. I understand how some felt the book to be a "downer" but I found myself sympathizing with the characters.
I would recommend this book!
I have to say this is NOT one of my favorites. I thought the tone was depressing & the lack of follow through with the characters frustrating. I felt the author had many attempts to make this a fantastic book but failed miserably. I would have to say this is not one I would recommend.

Without a doubt the book kept my interest going, as I found myself increasingly curious to the outcome of events. However, unlike many of the others who read this book, I found myself unsatisfied with the author's solutions, as well with some of the characters, which I found two-dimensional predictable, or passive. I'd rather not give story plots away. But I did pass the book on to my mom (who often likes books that I don't), so I'll report back with her thoughts.
