Official Rules

It's high time we recognize all those stellar individuals who've been blogging their hearts out and passionately building their Web sites. The DivineCaroline community will vote for their favorite sites and the top vote getters—one representing each of our nine channels—will be named in early December. Plus our editorial and community staff will choose nine more sites that will earn the soon-to-be-coveted Editor's Pick Awards. All 18 winners will receive a $250 Visa^® gift card and the honor of displaying a snazzy Love! This Site Award badge on their site.

The Love! This Site Awards will begin at approximately 4:00 PM PT on August 28, 2008. You can vote for nominees and submit sites until 9:00 PM PT, Sunday, November 30, 2008. At that time voting will close. All 18 winners will be announced in early December 2008. Prizes will be awarded by February 1, 2009.

To keep things on the up and up, the following individuals are not eligible to vote in the Love! This Site Awards: employees, contractors, directors and officers, and immediate family and those living in the same households such employees, contractors, directors or officers.

You can nominate and vote for as many sites as you'd like, but you do have to be a member of DivineCaroline. (Of course, registration is super fast and free.) When you submit a site, you will have to specify which of DivineCaroline's nine channels the submitted site best relates to. Each site can be a nominee in only one channel. But don't worry, every one of our channels is jam-packed with the stuff of life so there's a place for everything. For example, you'll find pets in our Relationships channel and stuff like movies and sports in our Play channel. You may vote for each site once only, but knock yourself out encouraging your circle to vote for your favorites!

Our community staff will review every site submitted so we ask that you honor this site and its community. We will reject any site that contains material that is abusive, vulgar, threatening, harassing, libelous, defamatory, or obscene, or any material that invades a person's privacy, violates any intellectual property rights or violates any law. We expressly reserve the right to disqualify any entries that we believe in good faith are generated by a so-called spam or automated e-mail program or via scripts and automated submission.

Votes will be displayed in real time, so you can see who's leading within each channel at any moment. We reserve the right to remove or edit nominations, comments, user information and other content that appears on the site at our discretion.

You may only submit sites for nomination and vote for sites online at http://www.divinecaroline.com/awards

As the owner or manager of a nominated site, you can retrieve and display a nifty badge that features a "Vote for this site" button that will take fans right to your site's detail page on DivineCaroline. When the voting period ends on November 30, 2008, we will automatically alter your badge so it doesn't show a "vote" button. That way, you can display the nominee badge forever.

Winner badges and Editor's Picks badges will be awarded and appear on the chosen sites in early December 2008.

There are two types of Awards. The first group of winners will be based solely on the number of votes received from DivineCaroline members. There will be nine of these winners named—one representing each of the main channels of DivineCaroline. Each winner will receive a $250 Visa^® gift card. In the case of a tie, our editorial staff may conduct a blind vote to determine the winner.

The second group of winners will be chosen by our highly perceptive editorial and community staff. The nine Editor's Picks Awards will reflect the nine channels and be based on criteria such as quality and usefulness of content, originality, aesthetics, usability and tone or voice.

The winners will be notified by email. A winner's failure to respond to the prize notification within the specified ten (10) business days will be considered forfeiture of the prize and an alternate winner may be selected. If any of the 18 winners are unable to accept their prize, the prize will be forfeited and may be awarded to the next highest vote getter in that same channel for the Love! This Site Award and, in the case of the Editor's Pick Awards, to the runner up.

Winners will be required to sign an Affidavit of Eligibility and applicable tax forms as a condition to the delivery of the applicable prize. Sponsor will ship prizes directly to the mailing address provided by winners on the Affidavit of Eligibility.

All prizes won by minors will be awarded to their parents or legal guardians on their behalf. These Awards are void where prohibited by applicable law.

Sponsors shall not be liable for any electronic miscommunications or failures, technical hardware or software failures of any kind, lost or unavailable network connections, or failed incomplete, garbled or delayed computer transmissions which may limit an entrant's ability to participate; any technical malfunctions of the telephone network, computer on-line system, computer equipment, software, program malfunctions or other failures; delayed computer transactions or network connections that are human, mechanical or technical in nature, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to entrant's or any other person's computer related to or resulting from downloading any part of these Awards.

Unless prohibited by applicable law, entry constitutes permission to use a nominee's or winner's name, photograph, likeness, voice, address (city and state) and testimonials in all media, in perpetuity, in any manner the Sponsors deem appropriate for publicity purposes without any further compensation to such entrant.

By participating, all submitters, nominees and winners agree to abide by these Official Rules. Submitters, nominees and winners agree that the Sponsor has the sole right to decide all matters and disputes arising from these Awards and that all decisions of Sponsor are final and binding. Winners also agree to release, indemnify and hold harmless Sponsor and its employees, representatives, contractors, advertisers and sponsors from any and all liability, loss, damage, cost or claim related to any allegation regarding the acceptance or use of their prize, including but not limited to the airing of the commercial submission.
